You’ve got to love a supergroup. The rarity of these collectives alone grants them a special kind of allure, especially when they include the likes of Marie Dahlstrom, Dani Murcia, Emily Browning, The Naked Eye and Maddie Jay. These five - aka Her Songs - met online and proceeded to make sensational RnB tracks together, such as ‘Holding My Own’ and new addition ‘If We Try’. The latter was written, produced and recorded by Emmavie (based in London) and Marie Dahlstrom (based in Copenhagen), who drop the listener right back into that late ‘90s RnB vibe where songs were either about breaking up or making up. ‘If We Try’ marks the pivotal moment between one course of action and another; all those “ifs” fly through the rose-tinted clouds over a deliciously deep bassline and noodling guitar strings, courtesy of Emily Browning. It’s been a year since we last heard from Her Songs, and so we’re hoping that the appearance of ‘If We Try’ is only the start of a feast of golden sounds. - Hannah Thacker
